It's all about the 'Gifting Shot' right now

The gifting shot: six easy steps

1. Set up your surface
In this case, we are using our Parisian Grey Marble backdrop,, and have laid it flat beside a window. Turn off overhead lights and let the natural light come from one side for soft shadows and a slightly moody feel.

2. Start with the open box
Place your gift box near the centre, lined with loosely crumpled tissue or torn packing paper. Add your products with their labels visible, leaving the packaging open so customers can see inside.

3. Show the whole packing process
Bring in everything you actually use: wrapping paper, scissors, ribbon, twine, stickers, thank-you cards and product information cards. These little details show the care that goes into each order.

4. Let it look like work in progress
Leave wrapping paper partly unrolled, ribbon trailing across the surface and cards slightly overlapping. Add a few products waiting to be packed in one corner. Include seasonal foliage if it suits your packaging.

5. Bring your hands into the frame
Capture yourself reaching for ribbon, tying a bow or adjusting the tissue. Do the action naturallyโ€”the aim is to catch a real moment while preparing an order.

6. Shoot straight down
Hold your phone or camera directly above the scene. Keep the open box as the focus, with the packing materials around it. Leave some breathing room and keep those lovely creases and loose ends.

Think generous with detail, relaxed with placement. Showing the thoughtful extras helps customers imagine what your product will feel like to give and receiveโ€”especially during gifting season. And it will also help your product stand out from the retail giants during this time of year.
